Garage fire reported Saturday north of Bemidji
A garage fire north of Bemidji caused about $24,000 worth of damage to the structure and contents Saturday morning.
No one was injured.
According to a press release from Bemidji Fire Chief Dave Hoefer:
Homeowners called in the fire at 8:26 a.m. from the 8700 block of Grange Road Northwest in Liberty Township.
The homeowners, who were not in the garage at the time of the fire, were able to remove two vehicles from the garage prior to Bemidji Fire Department arrival on scene.
Eighteen firefighters responded with two fire engines and two tankers. Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke and flames exiting from the rear of a detached two-stall garage.
Firefighters quickly contained the fire to the back corner of the structure. They remained on scene about two hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Department. No foul plan is suspected; the fire appears to be accidental in nature.
Assisting at the scene were the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Bemidji Ambulance Service and Beltrami Electric Cooperative.
