Gaea beaver brings bad images to abuse victims
I have stayed silent long enough. As a victim of sexual assault, Gaea has proven to be an affront to my very being. Emo-tions that I had worked through in years of counseling -- rage, depression, embar-rassment -- were released like a torrent when I saw the representation of female anatomy displayed on a public sidewalk.
Survivors of sexual abuse/assault have been forced to display a part of themselves that should be personal, private, even sacred. The display of Gaea is tantamount to this forced victimization.
Please don't misunderstand -- I truly love the arts. I just feel that artists who are creating for a public walk should bear in mind that a moral compass and some self-censorship is appropriate and necessary.
