President Barack Obama declared a Presidential Major Disaster in 15 primary counties, which included Otter Tail and Wadena. Beltrami, Clearwater, Cass, Hubbard, Becker and Todd are eligible as contiguous counties.

Loans are available at 3.75 percent interest rates, based on the actual loss (less insurance) due to the thunderstorms. Farmers must be citizens or legal resident aliens, have legal capacity, unable to obtain sufficient credit elsewhere, including FSA guaranteed loan; operators of family-size farm; and not delinquent on any federal debt.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 14. More details and applications are available at USDA Service Centers.
