The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for late Tuesday night to Wednesday morning for much of northern Minnesota.

Temperatures are expected to fall to around the freezing mark late tonight from the Lake of the Woods region through Bemidji to near Wadena. Surface high pressure will build over the area tonight with clear skies and light winds expected. The frost advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The weather service says a freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are highly likely. Crops and other senstive vegetation will probably die in those conditions.

A frost advisory means that frost is possible, and sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
