Frank Hadrava, age 91, of Bemidji, Minn., passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, Saturday, January 17, 2009.
Memorial Services will be held in the spring by the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, Minn.
Frank Hadrava was born August 10, 1917 in Becida, Minn. to John and Josephine (Kriz) Hadrava. He lived on the home place at Becida and attended Meadowview School. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army during WWII and served in France and Germany and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Lois Milton January 27, 1951 in Bemidji, Minn. They lived in Bemidji and in 1955 they moved to Buhl, Minn. and to Lewistown, Mont. in 1986 and back to Bemidji in 1996. He worked as a foreman for Century Mercury Motor Freight for 23 years, retiring in 1978. He had a love of his family. At every opportunity he would take family fishing, camping, hunting and traveling. He was quiet, gentle, giving, was soft and tender hearted, caring, loving and always put family first. He touched the hearts of all the people who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Bemidji, Minn.; daughter, Karen (Joe) Kennedy of Lewistown, Mont.; 3 sons, Frank Hadrava, Jr. of Duluth, Minn, Daniel (JoAnn) Lindgren of Mt. Iron, Minn, Steven (Jennifer) Cardoni of Mt. Iron, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 1 brother, Emil Hadrava of Laporte, Minn.; 2 sisters, Helen Himmelright of Virginia, Minn. and Olga White of Laporte, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Hadrava; brothers, Joe, John and Leone Hadrava; sisters, Josephine, Mary, Tonka and Emily and infant sister, Ann.
The family prefers memorials to North Country Hospice of Bemidji, Minn.
