Frank Eugene Williams

Frank Eugene Williams, 64, of Bemidji, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with the Rev. Bill Goodman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 8, 1944, to Homer and Jean (Clark) Williams in Chicago. When he was a young teenager, his family lived for a short time in Des Moines, Iowa, and then moved to Bemidji. He met Beverly Sundvall in Bemidji and they moved to Iowa. They were married May 4, 1963, in Des Moines. He worked for Fawn Engineering, building coffee makers.

After a few years, they moved to the Twin Cities, where he worked for American Plating Company. When his daughter was old enough to attend school, they moved to Bemidji to raise their children in a small town. He worked at a truck stop and Holiday Station for some time and then started driving taxi. He bought the taxi company and named it Frank's Taxi Service, which he ran 24 hours a day for 17 years until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed serving the community driving his cab.

He also enjoyed reading the Bible, fishing and watching television and movies.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Williams of Bemidji; daughter, Sheila (Todd) Miller of Bemidji; son, Eugene Williams of Bemidji; brother, Homer Williams Jr. of Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Williams.
