Four students placed into custody after high school altercation

WALKER – Four juveniles have been detained after an altercation at the high school here.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement were called to the school Wednesday for assistance.

Upon arrival, officers found students involved in disruptive behavior resulting from an altercation at the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School.

Four juveniles were placed into custody and taken to the Northwest Juvenile Center pending formal charges.

One officer was assaulted during the incident, but no school staff or students were injured, Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said in the release.

This incident remains under investigation.

Officers from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Walker Police Department, Leech Lake Tribal Police, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene.
