Fosston woman injured in Highway 2 crash

The Minnesota Highway Patrol out of Thief River Falls responded to the following call:

10:59 a.m. Friday, U.S. Highway 2 and Business 2 near East Grand Forks. Dean A. Lindberg, 69, of Fosston, was driving a 2001 International semi west on U.S. Highway 2 as Janice L. Socha, 49, of Felton, Minn., was driving a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville east attempting to turn onto Business 2. The truck driver did not see the eastbound car. The Pontiac struck the truck driver's door. Socha had to be extricated from the car by East Grand Forks Fire Department personnel. She was wearing a seat belt but was injured with broken bones. She was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with non-life-threatening injuries. Lindberg was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The car was totaled. The truck sustained moderate damage. Lindberg was cited for failure to yield.
