According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office:

Billy Jack Olson was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado along Buttercup Lane Northwest when he turned east onto some railroad tracks, believing them to be a roadway.

The pickup truck got stuck, and Olson was in the vehicle when an eastbound 120-car coal train came up behind him.

He heard the train coming but was unable to get out of the vehicle.

The train collided with the rear of the pickup truck and pushed it down the tracks before it turned over onto its side.

Olson was taken to North Country Regional Hospital. He was listed in stable condition Tuesday evening.

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
