The Bemidji Blue Ox turned it its finest game of the season Tuesday night, blanking Ada's A's 6-0 in a non-league game at the BSU diamond.

It lifted the Blue Ox to 5-6 on the year.

Its next listed games are at Roseau July 11 though Manager Chris Conway would like to add a game or two before that time.

With the city series already decided, the two teams agreed to call off Friday's listed third game to preserve pitching.

Matt Fossen and Ryan Sullivan combined on a five-hitter with Sullivan coming on in the fourth inning to get the win.

The winners had nine off lefty David Spies and reliever Aaron Cook, six coming in the fifth and sixth innings when they scored four runs.

Fossen, who had thrown 108 pitches Sunday in a route-going loss to Crookston, allowed one hit through the first three. He left after giving up a leadoff single in the fourth with Sullivan coming on to get three quick outs aided by a double play.

Spies had given up only one hit through four.

But in the fifth, Landon Harris singled to left and was sacrificed to second. He held as Chris Conway beat out an infield single and took third on Sol Schneider's infield single to deep second.

Spies got a pop-up for the second out but Duane Beihn singled home Harris.

Three more crossed in the sixth. Colton Smith walked and Bryan Jamieson was hit by a pitch. Harris plated Smith with a single and Joel Conway sent home Jamieson with another.

A wild pitch moved Harris to third and he stole home.

Cook came on in the seventh and gave up another two runs in the eighth.

Two walks around a forceout put both runners aboard.

After a strikeout, a wild pitch and stolen base advanced the pair and Beihn singled them home.

Beihn, Jamieson and Harris all had two hits for the Blue Ox. Fossen and Sullivan fanned six and walked three. Sullivan raised his record to 2-0.

The win lifted the Blue Ox to 2-1 against Norman-Polk teams, a record that will factor into the playoff pairings. They play a doubleheader at Ada July 17.

They still have Northwest Border twinbills with Warroad and Roseau where they stand second at 2-2 behind Warroad 2-0. Roseau is 0-2.
