Jose A. Soto, now a resident of Texas, was indicted Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis on 17 counts of production of child pornography.

Soto allegedly coerced four girls into "engaging in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of such conduct," according to the U.S. attorney's office in Minneapolis. Pornographic videotapes allegedly were made at his St. Paul Park home on 17 occasions between March 2004 and February 2007.

If convicted, Soto faces up to 50 years in prison on each of the 17 charges. Soto already is serving a 10-year prison sentence in Texas for possession of child pornography.

The Minnesota case was the result of an investigation by the Minnesota Cyber Crimes Task Force, the attorney's office said.
