A former Bemidji woman whose battle with cancer was the inspiration for a charitable foundation has died. Tracy (Depew) Lane, 31, died on Aug. 10 in La Quinta, Calif.

A Bemidji High School and Bemidji State University graduate, Lane also played golf for the Beavers. Lane was PGA Golf Professional at several California golf clubs and was a member of the PGA and the Bemidji State Alumni Association. After being diagnosed with cervical cancer in August 2012, Lane and her husband, Derek Lane, started The Tracy Lane Foundation to raise funds and awareness about cervical cancer.

Lane will be buried Sept. 7 at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Bemidji, according to her obituary.

The family suggests donations be made to: The Tracy Lane Foundation, c/o Michael Licari Delt Law, 5402 Ruffin Road, Suite 209, San Diego, CA 92123
