Forgit named to NMF board

BEMIDJI – Cathy Forgit of Fertile, Minn., has been elected to the Northwest Minnesota Foundation Board of Directors.

Forgit is a retired Fertile Beltrami Community Education director and is currently the co-coordinator for the Fertile Beltrami Early Childhood Initiative.
On behalf of the other members, I am very pleased to welcome Cathy to the Northwest Minnesota Foundation board,” NMF Board Chair Bob Hager said. “She has a great understanding of the needs of our region. She is familiar with the foundation’s work in Northwest Minnesota and will add a valuable perspective on education.”
Forgit is very active in her community. She served on the Polk County Fair Board and has been active in support of the arts on local and county levels. She is currently doing an independent study at the University of North Dakota in textile arts and has been a visiting artist.
Forgit has studied and taken textile classes in Norway. She gives spinning and fiber arts demonstrations and is actively involved in the Red River Valley Fiber Guild, women’s groups and her church.
“I have seen firsthand, how successful a community can be when partnering with NMF,” Forgit said. “I am eager to be a part of that success as an acting board member and I am honored to serve this wonderful region of Northwest Minnesota.”
