Fodness, Holter make section meet
SARTELL - Bemidji's doubles team of Kyle Fodness and Adam Holter finished second in Thursday's North Sub-Section 8-2A individual tournament and will be the sub-section's No. 2 seed for the section tournament, which begins Tuesday in Sartell.
Fodness and Holter earned a bye in the opening round and defeated Wes Meyer and Ben Suits of Moorhead 6-2, 6-4 in the sub-section quarterfinals.
The Lumberjacks then edged Mack Wadi and Austin Storm of Alexandria 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to gain the final and a test against St. Cloud Tech's Luke Zweiner and Chris Mavetz.
The Tech team proved too tough on Thursday, however, as it stopped Holter and Fodness 6-0, 6-2.
In Tuesday's section meet Holter and Fodness will open against the third seeded doubles tandem from the South.
Bemidji's other sub-section representatives failed to reach the semifinals.
In doubles, Matt Hokanson and Noah Holter dropped their opener 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) to Wadi and Storm.
The Lumberjacks singles players, Alex Hess and Isak Sommer, both went 1-1. Hess downed Roman Lindeman of Sauk Rapids 6-0, 6-1 but lost 6-2, 7-5 to Zach Hoggart in the second round.
Sommer disposed of Brock Wood of Alexandria 7-5, 7-5 before losing 6-0, 6-0 to Riley Bates of Tech.
