Floyd Olson, 77, of Bemidji, MN, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Memorial Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 p.m., Sunday June 1, 2014 at the Eckles Community Center.
Floyd Eugene Olson was born December 29, 1936 in Adams, ND to Obert and Elsie (Grove) Olson. He attended Roseau High School where he graduated. He moved to Bemidji in 1966 and started Als Northside Marine and later a small engine shop that evolved into Floyd Olson Marine. On December 29, 1971 he married Joanne L. berg in Bemidji. Later, Floyd cleared land by hand to develop the Grass Lake Mobile Home Park. Floyd, Joe Hoffman and Hank Lindsey started the first boat show in the 1st National Bank parking lot, which the Bemidji Jaycees later took over and turned into what is now the Home, Sport and Travel Show. He was an avid member of the Bemidji, Northome and Walker trap and skeet club. Floyd loved to hunt and fish and could build almost anything he needed.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Olson of Bemidji; son, Kyle Olson of Bemidji; brother, Orvis (Thelma) Olson of Roseau; brother-in-law, Larry (Gail) Berg of New Hope; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Adolph) Nelson of Fosston and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Heidi Olson.
