Floyd "Butch" Lawrence Mattison, 63, of Petaluma, Calif., formerly of Bemidji, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, in Leavenworth, Kan., with the Rev. David McEvoy, Order of Carmelites, officiating. Private inurnment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

He was born May 15, 1945, to Floyd and Lois E. (Green) Mattison in Bemidji. His father died while serving in the military prior to his birth. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Alphonse "Al" Herrig. In 1963, he graduated from Immaculata High School in Leavenworth. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army he settled in Colorado and later moved to California.

He is survived by his step-father of Leavenworth; sisters, Carole Blaser of Sunrise Beach, Mo., Barbara Herrig of Leavenworth, Deborah Blockburger of Easton, Kan., and Joan Herrig of Baldwin, Kan.; four nephews and special friend, Barbara Wright.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
