Offensive mistakes ended the Mustangs opening drive and they were forced to punt. Initially the Mustang defense did a nice job but a pass interference call on third and long gave the hosts a first down and the impetus to score. That seemed to deflate the Mustangs who were plagued by mistakes and could not get their offense working for much of the game. Coach Derrick Gross commented that the Mustangs were not mentally ready to play the game.

The host Bears took a 28-0 half time lead and stretched the score in the second half using four defensive touchdowns to open up the game. Three interceptions were returned to the endzone and a fumble was scooped up and carried to pay dirt to account for 24 of the 56 Floodwood points. The only Mustang score came late in the game when the youngsters from both teams were on the field.

The Mustangs host Fond Du Lac Oct. 14 and travel to Nevis to close the regular season Oct. 20.
