Flooded road reopens
BEMIDJI -- The portion of Lookout Tower Road NE, or Beltrami County Road 300, that was closed Sunday because of overland flooding has reopened, officials said Tuesday.
The closure was from Snow Hill Lane NE on the east to approximately 2 miles west of the Scenic Highway (County Road 39) to the west at the S-curves, Beltrami County emergency officials said in a press release.
Temperatures are expected to remain near or below freezing for most of this week, which will slow the melt of remaining snow, but the melt already is well under way, officials said. If people encounter flooded roadways, they should not drive through them. As little as 6 inches of flowing water can knock a person off their feet and a foot of flowing water will move most cars, officials said. If you see a flooded road, report it to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office at 9218) 333-9111.
