Five escape serious injury in Cass County head-on collision
BEMIDJI -- Five people escaped serious injury in a head-on collision in Cass County on Monday evening.
The accident was reported at about 5:45 p.m. Monday at mile marker 5 on state Highway 64, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The patrol said that a northbound 1999 Mercury Sable driven by Julia Rainey, 23, of Minneapolis, went onto the shoulder and overcorrected and then crossed the center line and into the southbound lane where it was struck by a 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by David Greig, 35, of Motley.
Rainey and her two passengers, Tonya Rainey, 40, Minneapolis, and Mariah Boosto, 18, Bloomington, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said. Greig and his passenger, Lowell Converse, 40, Motley, did not sustain any injuries, the patrol said. According to the patrol, all except for Boosto were wearing their seatbelts and airbags were deployed.
