Fish house removal deadline approaching

1 / 2
Signs at each access to Lake Bemidj remind anglers that when they remove their fish houses, they should not leave them in the parking lots. This sign is located at the Nymore landing. Monte Draper | Bemidji Pioneer2 / 2

A portable fish house is set up Friday on Lake Bemidji. Many fish houses have already been removed from the lake. According to state regulations, fish houses on lakes in the southern two-thirds of the state, basically on an east-west line from Moorhead to Duluth, have to be removed by 11:59 p.m. Monday, while the northern part of the state has until 11:59 p.m. March 17. The Department of Natural Resources reports that conservation officers will enforce that deadline except where shelter owners have made all reasonable efforts to remove the shelter but are not successful because of inaccessible travel conditions. Failure to remove a fish house may result in a fine of $125 plus court costs. Monte Draper | Bemidji Pioneer
