First National Bank Bemidji helps SANE nurses
Paul Welle, vice president, and Sue Engel, director of marketing for First National Bank Bemidji, are shown with Family Advocacy Center of Northern Minnesota's Chris Peterson, a sexual assault nurse examiner, who is holding a training simulator whose purchase was made possible in part by a $250 donation from the First National Bank Foundation. SANE nurses are registered nurses trained in evidence collection and sexual assault examinations. The simulator will help train and improve skills of SANE nurses. Since opening in January 2006, the center has treated 114 victims of acute sexual assault and a total of 593 victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, neglect and physical abuse in the Ninth Judicial District.
