Fires burn area homes as winter begins
Bemidji Minnesota P.O. Box 455 56619

Fire, which started while the Sam Juelson family was absent, destroyed their home and its contents. The mobile home was located on Hines Road NE, the old Spur Road, near the entrance to the Rice Pond Road. It was the second such blaze during November, according to Blackduck Fire Chief Rick Bogart. The first occurred at the start of hunting season and represented another total loss for Bob Corne. A benefit to help Corne is scheduled for Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. in the Blackduck High School multi-purpose room. There will also be a silent auction as well as a dance at The Pond in Blackduck from 8 p.m.-midnight. Another silent auction will be held there as well. The Juelsons and their four children are temporarily living elsewhere while making more permanent arrangements. There was a kitchen grease fire Nov. 8 at a home on Liberty Drive in Blackduck but it was contained by Blackduck Fire Dept. No injuries were reported at any of the fires.
