Firefighters extinguish blaze Tuesday night at Bemidji home
BEMIDJI – A house fire Tuesday evening caused an estimated $25,000 in damage, the Fire Department said.
In a news release, Fire Chief Dave Hoefer said the fire is being investigated but it appears to have been accidentally set and related to cooking.
Firefighters said the fire, in the 700 block of Irvine Avenue Northwest, was reported at 7:01 p.m.
Upon arriving at the home, firefighters discovered a fire in the kitchen area.
Hoefer said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
The department responded with 19 firefighters, two fire engines and a ladder truck. Firefighters were at the home for about two hours.
No injuries were reported.
The Bemidji Police Department and Otter Tail Power Company assisted in the response.
In an email, Hoefer said Bemidji firefighters responded to five emergency calls between 6:45-9 p.m. Tuesday.
