Fire under control at construction site in Warroad
WARROAD, Minn. (AP) - A fire at a construction site in Warroad is under control, but authorities say five buildings have been destroyed.
Warroad Police Chief Bob Cudabeck says the buildings at a nursing home and assisted living complex covered an area of about two square blocks. The fire started early Friday morning.
Cudabeck says the buildings were empty at the time and there are no injuries. An officer on patrol noticed smoke at about 1:20 a.m. High winds made the fire spread quickly.
The police chief says the cause of the fire is under investigation. The state fire marshal will visit the site later Friday.
