Fire department extinguishes Nymore house fire

Bemidji Fire Department responded to a house fire early Monday morning in Bemidji.

The fire, which was reported at 1:52 a.m. by the home's occupants, was located in the 900 block of Roosevelt Road Southeast. Bemidji firefighters arrived on scene to find a car fully engulfed in fire and a fire on the outside of the house that was rapidly spreading. Bemidji firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, which was confined to the exterior, bathroom and attic of the occupied home.

Twenty eight firefighters used two fire engines and one ladder truck on the scene. No injuries were reported. The fire department was on scene approximately two hours. The fire caused an estimated $24,000 in damage to the vehicle, house and contents. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Bemidji Fire Department and Bemidji Police Department; however, it appears to be accidental in nature. The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Bemidji Police Department and Otter Tail Power Company.
