Fire crews respond to fire at Norbord
A fire that ignited Thursday night at the Norbord Minnesota plant at 4409 Northwood Road N.W. in Solway drew firefighters from the Bemidji and Solway fire departments Friday morning.
General Manager Jack Wallingford said Norbord Minnesota fire crews worked on the fire throughout the night.
"We have our own fire brigade, but we just don't have all the manpower," he said Friday morning. "The primary fires are out, but we've got a lot of smoldering dust and wafers."
He said the fire started at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
"We had a process upset some of our burners," he said.
Wallingford said embers flew onto the rooftops of a couple of buildings at the plant and spread primarily into the dry wafer storage building.
He said he expects the plant to be up and running again sometime today.
No one was injured in the blaze and no significant damage is expected, he said.
