Fatal rollover reported on U.S. Highway 2 west of Bemidji

A Wednesday morning rollover accident on icy U.S. Highway 2 near Solway resulted in one dead and at least two injured.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report out of Thief River Falls:

At 8:36 a.m. Wednesday, a white 2004 Ford van was traveling west on Highway 2 about one mile east of Solway. The driver of the van lost control on the icy road, entered the median, rolled and came to rest in the eastbound lane. The five passengers are all listed as address unknown. They are Edgar H. Delon, 33; Claudio Tlapa Lopez, 33; German Tlapa Lopez, 31; Jose J. Martinez Trujillo, 46; and Antonia A. Garcia, 28.Claudio Tlapa Lopez was reported to have non-kife-threatening injuries. German Tlapa Lopez was treated at North Country Regional Hospital and released. Delon and Trujillo had no apparent injuries. Garcia's physical condition was not documented. Of the survivors, only Delon was listed as wearing a seatbelt. The van had no rear seats.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office assisted with the accident scene. Highway 2 was closed until the roadway was cleared and sand applied.
