Lang's song "I Believe," which was performed with the Fisk Jubilee Singers, earned him the distinction. Since refocusing his career from a blues-rock motif to gospel, the former blues prodigy has earned considerable attention from the Grammy voters.

In 2006 Lang won his first Grammy award when he took home the trophy for best rock or rap gospel album with his "Turn Around" release. Lang was previously nominated for his heralded 1998 blues album "Wander This World."

The awards will be announced on Jan. 31 during a live show airing on CBS.
