Family: Slaying victim had asked for police escort
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Family members of a St. Paul woman killed along with her brother say she had asked for a police escort, but didn't wait for officers when retrieving her belongings from an apartment she had once shared with her husband and their children.
Police suspect the estranged husband, Chue Lor, killed his wife, Panhia Yang, and her brother, Kong Meng Lee, with a sharp object Sunday before he also died. The cause of Lor's death has not yet been determined.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the couple's four children, ages 3 to 9, were in the apartment at the time of the slayings and are being cared for by Lor's family. Relatives say Yang's brother went to the apartment to protect his sister while she collected her belongings after leaving her husband.
