Family events set weekend at Lake Bemidji State Park

BEMIDJI - Lake Bemidji State Park will offer several events for visitors this weekend.

On Saturday, the Third Annual Dutch Oven Throw Down will begin at 11 a.m. at the Amphitheater. Participants will need to cook a crowd-pleasing recipe using a cast-iron Dutch oven, and will be vying for the title of Cast Iron Chef.

Creatures of the Night, a shadow puppet show, will be performed during a walk through Lake Bemidji State Park beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Visitor Center.

Legends in the Sky, a discussion on constellations viewable in Minnesota's night skies, will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Amphitheater.

Bog Watcher Sunday begins at 2 p.m. on the Bog Walk, with a naturalist leading participants and answering questions and helping identify plants, animals and insects along the way.

This week's installment of the Summer Concert Series features Tim Sparks on acoustic guitar. The performance will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Amphitheater.
