Family bike ride, Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday
BEMIDJI -- Bike Bemidji, a citizen advocacy group, will hold a short, family friendly bike ride from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday starting at the Jaycees Pavilion at The Waterfront. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the ride at 9:30 a.m. There will be free water and snacks, helmet fittings, free bike safety checks and free T-shirts, organizers said.
The group will ride along the Paul Bunyan State Trail, including over the new Paul Bunyan Bridge, on the 2.5 mile event. Sponsors for the event are the city of Bemidji, The Cabin Coffeehouse and Cafe, The Bike Guy Ski and Bicycle Shop, Active Living, Headwaters Regional Development Commission, Shifting Gears, Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, League Cycling Instructors and Bemidji State University.
The Worldwide Day of Play follows the bike ride from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Waterfront. For $5 wristbands, participants can enjoy fun activities and games, including archery, bike blender, hockey, bounce houses, bean bag toss, dance activities, pickleball, bike rodeo and more.
