Faith was born in a cabin on February 17, 1933 in Gemmell, MN, the daughter of Forest and Eva (Conklin) Haverland. She was raised and educated there, and attended Northome High School. Faith lived in Southern Minnesota andIowa for about 10 years, but her heart was always in the woods. Faith was a woodswoman entrepreneur, she did whatever she could to keep her children fed. She cut Christmas Trees and made wreaths in season. She picked and sold berries, was a hunting guide and also owned a tavern called “Faith’s Place”. She did community service on her own, she would deliver provisions to loggers in their shacks and helped people in many ways. She was always there when anyone needed a friend or a meal. Faith was known as the Northern “Annie Oakley”. She was an avid hunter and fisher woman. A woods woman by nature, with eyes like a hawk, and a free spirit like a deer. She swam like a fish and picked berries better than a bear, she marched to the beat of her own drum. She has sang for those gone before her, and those of us left behind will truly miss her and her wonderful singing as we celebrate her life.

She was survived by a daughter- Dawn Eve of Bemidji,son- Lance (Michelle) Rowe of Alabama, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 brothers- Rod (Deb) Haverland of Showlow, Arizona Dell (Pat) Haverland of Florida,Gary (Lorina) Haverland of Escondido, California, Larry Haverland of Bemidji, MN, 2 sisters- Lou Owen of Illinois,Nancy (Orie) Hoefs of Browerville, MN.She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister- Valzora Birdsall.
