'Empowered by the Father's Hands' at Mt. Zion

BEMIDJI -- Mt. Zion Church announces "Empowered by the Father's Hands" will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 414 Lincoln Ave. SE.


Speakers will include Dean and Cassie Goosen and a worship with Andy Pomp's team.

There is no registration fee, but offerings will be taken.

A suggested age limited of 13 has been set and there will be no childcare.

Hollywood vs. Faith speech planned

BEMIDJI -- TV and film actor Frank Runyeon will add humor to his speech, Hollywood vs. Faith, which details his own experience with the media at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at St. Philip's Catholic Church, 620 Beltrami Ave. NW.

Runyeon is most known for his work on the daytime dramas "As the World Turns" and the Emmy Award-winning "Santa Barbara."

The event is free and open to the public.

Noon recitals continue

BEMIDJI -- Bemidji Area Church Musicians will continue the recital series noon Wednesday at Aardahl Lutheran Church, 2920 Van Buren Ave. SE.

The concert will feature Wayne Hoffman, organ and Carol L. Johnson, piano.

A freewill offering will be accepted for the concert and a luncheon will follow.

'From Broadway to Bach' set

LAPORTE -- Trinity Lutheran Church of Laporte presents a musical gala, "From Broadway to Bach" at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at the church, 27689 474th St.

Sarah Lawrence and Calland Metts, performers of theater, opera and oratorio, will present the program. The church's new digital/pipe organ will also be played.

Appetizers and desserts will be served. Donations will go to the organ fund.

MEGA Sports Camp scheduled

BEMIDJI-- Crossroads Church announces MEGA Sports Camp will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18-22 at the church, 3354 Laurel Dr. NW.

The camp is available to children in kindergarten through grade 5 and set to help sharpen football and soccer skills.

The cost is $10. Experienced coaches will help put together the camp.
