Jean Brown works as a vocational rehabilitation technician at the Minnesota Workforce Center, a service that operates under the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

When Minnesota residents came to her for assistance, Brown's job was to help them find work.

Brown is laid off from her work in Bemidji now that the government is shut down. But what concerns her more is what will happen to the people she assists. All counseling, career planning and placement, and long-term job support for people with disabilities will not be available.

"We've got plans in place to get people the support services they need, however, without the dollars to fund those services, it won't happen," she said.

"If a crisis happens to someone, we won't be able to help."
