Fabian Dean Rosebear

Fabian Dean Rosebear, whose Indian name is Waabishkaa Ma' iingan, which means White Wolf, 41, of Ponemah, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.

Traditional funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ponemah Community Center with Spiritual Leader Anna Gibbs officiating. A wake will begin at 1 p.m. today at the Ponemah Community Center and continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Rosebear Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.

Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.

The pallbearers will be Craig Smith, Allen Weitzel Jr., Aaron Weitzel, Charles Rosebear, Alfred Kingbird Sr., Ted Graves, Bobbi-Joe Kingbird and Nathan Rosebear. Alternates are Lonny Kingbird, Alfred Kingbird Jr. and Darcy Benais Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Gildersleeve, Doug Spears, David Castanada, Curtis Ringhand, North Country Regional Hospital Staff, family and friends.

He was born Nov. 4, 1967, to Francis and Andrea (Hill) Rosebear in Red Lake, Minn. He grew up in Ponemah and attended school. He worked as a cashier for the River Road and Warroad Casinos. He also worked at a saw mill, before his accident. He enjoyed going to powwows, the casino and fishing, when he was able. He also enjoyed riding around, visiting and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Andrea Rosebear of Ponemah; special friend, David Rosebear of Ponemah; sons, Darry (Julia Bellanger) Rosebear of Ponemah, Fabian Rosebear Jr. of Ponemah, Nicholas Rosebear of Ponemah and John Rosebear of Ponemah; daughter, Jerilyn Rosebear of Ponemah; sister, Rhonda (Craig Smith) Rosebear of Ponemah; brother, Brian Rosebear of Ponemah; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
