Ex-girlfriend blocked from missing man's estate
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Ramsey County probate judge has declared a missing Falcon Heights man dead and has blocked his former girlfriend from receiving any of his estate.
Fifty-seven-year-old Harold Schroetter vanished in 2009 while on the way to his attorney's office where he planned to remove his estranged girlfriend as a beneficiary of his holdings, estimated at $750,000. His body has never been found.
Ramsey County Probate Judge David Higgs says the court believes 50-year-old Jacqueline Dubay is responsible for Schroetter's disappearance and death and has blocked her from receiving any inheritance. Dubay has not been criminally charged. Dubay could not be reached for comment because a phone number listed to her has been disconnected.
Ramsey County Attorney John Choi tells the Star Tribunehis office doesn't have enough evidence to issue charges.
