Evelyn "Maxine" Drury, 87

Evelyn "Maxine" Drury, 87, of Park Rapids died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.

She was born Feb. 20, 1920 to Lloyd and Mary (Platt) Rost in McGregor, IA. As a girl her family moved to Oelwein, IA and then to Minneapolis. She attended Mechanix Arts High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1937.

She married Arthur Carl Drury June 1, 1940 in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul until 1947 when they moved to San Diego, CA. In 1976, they began spending summers at Big Pines RV Park in Park Rapids and winters in San Diego or Arizona. They moved to Nevis in 1989 and to Park Rapids in 1991. Heritage Living Center became her home in 2001.

She was a member of three bridge clubs in Park Rapids, the Craft Arcade and Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. She was a 33-year survivor of breast cancer.

She is survived by two sons, Carl (Sandra) of Nevis and Kurt (Wilma) of Shreveport, LA; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and a sister, Mary.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Heritage Living Center Chapel with Sandra Drury officiating.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
