Ervin "Bunky" Hanson

Ervin "Bunky" H. Hanson, 85, of Babbitt, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his residence.

He was born to Hans and Margaret Hanson on May 22, 1928, in Cass Lake, Minn.

He married Violet Welter on December 5, 1952; and moved to Babbitt in 1956. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy: World War II and Korean War. He was dedicated to the American Legion and VFW. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was employed by Reserve Mining Co., and LTV before retiring. He also served on Public Utilities Commission, Babbitt Fire Department and was commander of the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his brother, Harold Hanson (Diane); sister, Karen Frazer; daughters, Janine (Kenneth) Clawson of Clearbrook, Minn., Nancy (Glen) Aho of Virginia, and Connie Murphy of Mountain Iron; grandchildren, Michelle (Judd) Clawson-Stokes, Tami (Richard) Lindell, Darren Aho, Todd (Stephanie) Clawson, Derek (Shelley) Aho, and Christopher (Nicole) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Raymond, Devon, Kayla, Aaron, Drew, Hailey, Alosha, Sam, Alexa, Joseph and Audrey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet; and five brothers.
