Employers' seminar set for Thursday

The August Regional Employer Support Network Seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 6 at the Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation.

The seminar will focus on a broad range of Unemployment Insurance topics, including benefits eligibility (quits, discharges, misconduct); defining "suitable employment" for Unemployment Insurance applicants; the Employer Online Self-Service System (with a focus on the new benefits functionality); filing an appeal or raising an issue; covered vs. non-covered employment (owners, independent contractors, family, etc.); tax rates and experience ratings; taxable wages; submitting quarterly wage detail reports; and reporting unemployment fraud.

The seminar is sponsored by the Regional Employer Support Network in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
