Employee sentenced for theft from company

BEMIDJI – A former employee of Beltrami Industrial Services has been sentenced for stealing more than $380,000 from the company.

Suzanne Marie Lofgren, 50, of Bemidji, was sentenced Monday by Beltrami County District Judge Shari Schluchter to 21 months in prison for felony theft – diverting corporate property. Lofgren pleaded guilty to the charge Sept. 12.

She must pay a $50 fine and $85 in fees and surcharges. She must pay restitution.

According to court documents:

Lofgren, who has since been terminated, had been employed for 11 years by Beltrami Industrial Services of Solway. As office manager, she had authority to issue checks and make payments on behalf of the business.

Court papers state that a Beltrami County investigation established that Lofgren stole $381,689.19 from the company between Jan. 23, 2007, and Oct. 24, 2011, for her personal use. Lofgren stole $49,469.57 in 2007, $89,595.47 in 2008, $73,040.51 in 2009, $79,567.49 in 2010 and $90,016.15 in 2011.
