Emil Hadrava, 89, of Guthrie, MN, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with Pastor Kent Dudley officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Guthrie Cemetery, Hubbard County.
Emil was born July 23, 1924 in Becida to John and Josephine Hadrava. He grew up in Becida and attended school in Becida. He entered the U.S. Army during WWII and served in France, Germany and Belgium and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. On February 18, 1949 he married Catherine Carter in Bemidji. They made their home in Laporte where he logged until the age of 75. Emil loved to hunt, fish, garden and farming.
He is survived by daughter, Pam Coons of Bemidji; sons, Brent (Pat) Hadrava of Bemidji, Brian (Susan) Hadrava of Laporte and Barry (Lily) Hadrava of Bemidji; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Olga White of Laporte and sister-in-law, Lois Hadrava of Bemidji.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine; son-in-law, Dale Coons; brothers, Joseph, John, Frank and Leon; sisters, Mary, Ann, Emily, Helen and Josephine.
