She was born on December 1, 1975, in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Dempsey and Mitusko (Shinzato) Barco. She was raised in the San Francisco area, and attended school in Kelseyville, CA. She married Dwayne Lee Totzauer on May 21, 1991, in Marietta, GA. She and her husband moved around the US and Canada before settling in Bemidji in 1991. Together they opened Country Greenhouse south of Bemidji, she was the heart and soul of the greenhouse. She attended Mount Zion Church, Country Faith Church, Destiny Fellowship, and Calvary Chapel. She enjoyed getting pampered at the salon, shopping, baking, gatherings with extended family and friends. She loved celebrating special holidays, birthdays, and occasions. Emi was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Her perseverance and courage during this hard fought battle will always be remembered. She touched so many people without knowing it, and in return was surrounded with abundant love, hope, and peace. She desired so greatly for healing and a second chance so she could be here for her family and watch her children grow up. Now she will be watching from above. Her faith and strength during her struggle was immense. Her legacy will be cherished and forever in our hearts. She is dearly missed.
