Ellen Gaetke, 93, of Bemidji, MN, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Rosewood Elder Care, Bemidji.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church, Bemidji, MN with Pastor Vern Lathe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the spring in Greenwood Cemetery.
Honorary bearers will be Bill Ihde, Kim Speck, Pam Lyseng, Bob Thulin, Bernie Thulin, Stephanie Wille and Michael Wille.
Ellen Helena Gaetke was born January 26, 1920 to Carl and Maria (Pearson) Thulin in rural Debs; she was the 7th of 8 children. She attended the Debs school where she graduated the 8th grade. She went on to get her diploma from the Minneapolis School of Beauty Culture in 1940. On June 5, 1943 she married Bert Gaetke in Yuma, AZ, and they lived in Los Angeles for approximately two years. They then moved back to Bemidji where they raised their family. Their only daughter, Sharon, was born April 9, 1944. Ellen kept her beauty license active into the 1980s. She enjoyed family and friends, especially helping care for her great grandchildren and great nieces. She was also an active member of the Bemidji Does for many years. She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
She is survived by her grandson, Todd (Sara) Wille of Bemidji; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Marge) Thulin of Fifty Lakes, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bertrum; daughter, Sharon Gray; son-in-law, Les Gray; 2 sisters, Mamie Stai and Ada Saar; 4 brothers, William, Rudy, Alvin and Helge.
