A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bemidji with the Rev. Mark Kinden officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held, in the spring, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Aure, Minn.

Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert, Minn. assisted the family with the arrangements.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1914, to Hans and Signe (Torgerson) Kirkvold in Pinewood, Minn. She attended school in Beltrami County and later married Selmer B. Jallen on Dec. 16, 1939. They farmed in North Dakota and later moved to rural Bemidji. In the mid 50s, they moved to Pineville and in 1995, she became a resident of Virginia.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, and kind and generous personality. She was a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Aurora, Minn. and was very active in the ladies circle in quilt making, lefse baking, lutefisk dinners and church bazaars. She was noted for her beautiful flower gardens and flower arrangements at the church. Her family and friends were always welcome in her home and were treated with delicious meals, baked goods, and especially her fabulous lefse and pies. She will remain in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her children, Lauren (Linda) Jallen of Biwabik, Minn., Larry Jallen of Onamia, Minn. and Sharon (Bob) Silcox of Anoka, Minn.; grandchildren, Kimberley (John) Koch of Lino Lakes, Minn., Tracy (Darrell) Potocnik of Lino Lakes, Dena Silcox of Highland Park, Minn., Erik Silcox of St. Paul, Minn. and Krista Silcox of Cayman Islands, British West Indies; great-grandchildren, Karly, Derek, Alex McMillen and Ella Silcox-Forbes; sister-in-laws, Eunice Winger and Selma Becker of Bemidji; many special nieces, nephews and friends.
