She was born on June 21, 1918, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of Michael and Lillian (Sammon) Whelan. Eileen grew up in Minneapolis, MN, and upon her marriage to Cliff Morlan, she moved to Bemidji, MN, where she lived on Dewey Avenue on Lake Bemidji for over 50 years. Eileen is retired from North Country Regional Hospital. She was a member of St. Philips Catholic Church, where she was very active in earlier years, in both the church and school community. Eileen was an avid gardener, and very faithful to her Irish ancestry. Eileens true passion in her life was her family, and she demonstrated this strong commitment each and every day. She had unconditional love for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as they all have for her. Her door was always open and her refrigerator was always full. Eileen had strong family and faith values, and has been an inspiration through her entire life to all who have been fortunate enough to cross paths with her. She could always find the good in any situation and was true to her word.

She is survived by her six children, Kathy Newell, Jim (Marianne) Morlan, Mary (Dave) Hahn, Teresa (Brad) DeVries, Tom Morlan, and Patty Morlan, eleven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, her brother in law Lloyd Flynn, sisters-in law Mary Grace Whelan, and Harriet Mooney. She is preceded in death by her husband Cliff Morlan, brother Mel Whelan, sisters Betty Flynn, Marie Whelan, son-in-law Gary Newell, and two great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers Eileens family would like to request memorials to The Nielson Place Family Council. Eileens family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care they have provided to her for the last seven years.
