Eighty people donate blood at drive
BEMIDJI - Robin Mucerino coordinated a successful blood drive May 21 at Bemidji Baptist Church, according to a news release from United Blood Services.
The drive had 90 people volunteer to donate blood, and 80 were able to give. Sixteen people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 96 products were collected. Nine of the donors gave blood for the first time.
The availability of blood is dependent on the success of community blood drives, including people who volunteer to donate blood and those who help organize the drives, United Blood Services said in the news release.
