Of those nine, eight placed at least fourth and BHS coach Rance Bahr was elated by his team's overall performance.

"We had five kids make the finals and we finished with one champion and four seconds," Bahr said. "We also had two kids finish third and another place fourth.

"There was great competition in this meet and to have eight of our nine kids place, from a coach's standpoint, we had a great tournament."

Badger-Greenbush-Middle River captured the team championship with 204.5 points and Perham was second with 182.5. Little Falls claimed third with 152 and the Lumberjacks were fourth with 146.5.

Trailing the field were Aitkin, BCLB, Royalton, Roseau, Nashwauk-KG and Cloquet.

Brian Maas was Bemidji's champion as he captured the 106-pound title with a 7-0 victory over Wyatt Becker of BGMR in the final.

Contributing second-place finishes were Logan Crosby at 120, Craig Maas at 138, Colton Doty at 145 and Kodi Craft at 152.

Kade Johnson placed third at 170 as did Al Johnson at heavyweight while Dylon Sauceda was fourth at 113.

"We were involved in many one and two-point matches," Bahr. "Some of them we won and some of them we lost.

"We purposely had four open weights at the start because we wanted to have some of our kids who have seen varsity competition wrestle in the junior varsity meet instead so they could get some confidence," the coach continued. "From that perspective, and with our varsity performances, I think we had a great meet."
