Edward Shingler, 84 of Bemidji died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Harvey Kath officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
Edward was born March 24, 1929 in Blackduck, MN the son of John and Susie Shingler. He attended school in Blackduck where he graduated. He married Helen Michalko in Blackduck. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji. He was a member of the Operating Engineers, orking from C.L. Nelson and Co. for 19 years. He was a maintenance foreman for Koochiching County Highway Department for 21 years, where he retired. He loved to hunt, fish and pick blueberries.
He is survived by wife Helen, sons, Edward A. of Minneapolis and Jeffrey (Kim) of Duluth; sisters Evelyn Melstrom, Dorothy Bowman of Blackduck and Ruth Kroeger of Bemidji; grandsons Zachary and Caleb; granddaughters, Molly and Maddy; sister-in-laws, Alyce Shingler of Bremerton, WA and Alberta Shingler of Blackduck and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Shingler, Jr. and Mike Shinger; sisters, Mildred Bergren, Lydia Stanka and Ann Kupeho.
