Education Briefs for April 21
Local student presents research
BEMIDJI – Senior Elizabeth Richards was one of 21 students from Concordia College, Moorhead to present at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) hosted April 11-13 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Richards is a biology major and daughter of C. Ross and Susan Richards of Bemidji. Her presentation is titled “Mice Against a Murine Hookworm Model.”
Local student receives scholarship
BEMIDJI – Bemidji High School senior Erin Booth received the Mike Warter Memorial Senior Award for $1,000. She will be attending the University of Minnesota next fall.
Two $1,000 awards were given to 2013 graduating seniors.
The award is in honor of Mike Warter, head coach of the Eagan Girls’ Soccer team, who died in 2000. The recipients of the awards will be acknowledged at the all-tournament banquet next season.
Applicants were awarded based on good academic standing, a strong interest to play soccer in college, solid citizenship, participation in varsity soccer and two letters of recommendation.
