ECKLES TOWNSHIP- A fire here Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $120,000 in damages to a house and its contents.

The Bemidji Fire Department responded to the fire on the 4000 block of Eckles Road Northwest after it was reported by a passing motorist at 2:17 p.m.

The fire spread from the attic to the exterior of the home, according to a fire department press release. The cause is under investigation, but the fire department said it was likely accidental.

Twenty 20 firefighters, two engines and three tankers were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Firefighters remained at the scene for three hours.

No injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Department, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources firefighters, Bemidji Ambulance Service and Beltrami Electric Cooperative.
